Based on the results of the 2007 Client
Survey conducted by the
Division of Federal Programs, it is clear that the structure and
content of DFP/PAFPC Regional Meetings must change in order to meet the
needs of the field.
Several of the key threads that were evident
in the survey, were:
- Regional meetings are not close enough
to some members and they must travel for more than 2 hours to get to a
half-day meeting.
- Content is not always pertinent or
helpful.
- Presentations are done by rote and
presenters don’t appear to be knowledgeable of their topic(s).
In answer to these concerns, DFP staff have
brainstormed and come up
with a new way of doing Regional Meetings that will provide the field
with pertinent information several times each year and within less than
2 hours of them at least one-time during the year.
Regional meetings will be held three times
each school year—fall,
winter and spring. The topics to be covered during each
session will
be directly related to the tasks and responsibilities the districts and
IUs have during that time of year. Schedules for all regional
meetings
will be made public and available to the entire state so that each
district can decide the location they wish to attend.
